Week 1 Day 7 ... Out of Control!

Over the past few days I have lost control on more than one occasion... I only have myself to blame! I am still losing weight, and bodyfat (so the scales say :)), but I haven't been disciplined at all. On Friday I was to order a salad sandwich from the canteen at school before we got going. We had a dilemma and one thing led to another, I found myself teaching in someone else's room, this is fine, but I didn't get to eat before we left. We got going about 11.45am to drive to Melbourne, stopped at the petrol station at Glenrowan, which also has a Maccas!!! I chose a lean beef burger, it was on the healthy option, must have been good for me cause it tasted like crap! Got to Melbourne at 3.30pm, sat down to wait in the lobby of the Mecure Hotel for our interview at 4.15pm, we went up and asked the reception that we had an interview, they knew nothing about it, so we sat down to wait. 4.15pm past, so did, 5.00pm, and 5.30pm!! We still waited not wanting to make a bad impression and not be there if the interviewer came to get us, we kept waiting!!!! No show. So we waited until the seminar time, 6pm. Still no food, the seminar went until 8.00pm, I drank a few glasses of water. Once we got in the seminar room, the interview was there, we told him what had happened and there seemed to be a bit of confusion between the day shift reception staff and the night shift staff. Anyhow, he fitted us in for an interview after the seminar, he was very understanding, but god I was hungry!!! To cut a long story short, we are through to the next stage with teaching overseas! In the car at 9.00pm and got Thai food (Pad Thai for me) in Sydney Rd. Had a snooze in the car while my beautiful man drove us home to Wodonga, we got home about 1am.
Wake up in the morning about 10.30am had a poached egg on wholemeal toast, pack my bag and get going to the football/Netball out at Mitta Mitta. Got there just before I played so didn't get to have my sandwiches (I always get sandwiches before I play) . Played netty, we lost by 8 to the second top team, got to the canteen for something to eat.... NO FOOD!!! I had my protein shake. Had a shower and got changed. Went to practice my act for the social function last night. Had lots of fun and ended up eating mini pizza, dim sim, ham and pickle sandwich.
So I am ready to put my crazy weekend behind me, get on with the plan and refocus with a less hectic week/weekend.
I have Kane's grandparents with us today, we have been shopping and did some gardening and general cleaning, food could be better. I had a spinach/feta scone from bakers delight today so little slap on the wrist. Planning to have eye fillet steak and veggies for tea tonight. Put my weekly results in tomorrow and really need to send in my photos as well (just been too busy). I have had some great comments and my weight and figure the last two days so changes are happening!!! I wore a very short tight black dress last night in my act (I was posh spice!!) and I wasn't at all disgusted in how it looked on me! I am usually my hardest critic.

So life goes on. I decided to be totally honest with myself here, though the thought did cross my mind and not mentioning my short comings this weekend.
Hope everyone had a great weekend
Kelly

PS.
I may have won 5th division in tattslotto! Will find out tomorrow, I had 2 numbers plus a supplementary. Not too sure but I will investigate, could be @ $25.

Week 1 Day 4

Hi guy's, I seem to be blogging quite regular at the moment which is great. Just came home from Netty training, we went out for tea afterwards to a pizza/pasta restaurant. I had the pumpkin ravioli as my free meal this week. It was nice, I thought this was a better choice than a cheesy pizza or creamy pasta. I did legs and arms at the gym before netball today. This bloke came up while I was doing the 45 degree leg press, he looked at my weight and told me I needed to add more weight. I was struggling on the last few reps as it was. I was only pressing 25kg, but it was my last exercise on legs... they were tired!!! Should I do a particular order with my leg exercises? I've been alternating between a leg/arm/leg/arm/leg. I'm off to Melbourne tomorrow for our interview and seminar about working overseas next year. I'm going to take a shaker of protein powder, a protein bar, fruit and a bottle of water with me so I don't buy anything naughty along the way. I will only buy grilled fish or chicken with veggies for diner!!! Bed time now! See ya guys,
Kelly

Week 1 Day 3

This is the culprit!!!

Today I am starting to feel a little tired. The cat vomited on my pillow at 7am this morning, still love him though...) and so my idea of a snooze after the alarm was rudely interrupted. Enjoying my food at the moment which is great. Today it was..
M1 - Porridge and chocolate protein powder, a little low fat milk
M2 - Tuna and seaweed rice crackers
M3 - Chicken, veg and rice with soy sauce. One double 'D' lolly
M4 - I missed this due to a meeting and appointment
M5 - Eye fillet steak and seeded mustard with beans, mushies, capsicum and onion.... yum
Drinks - 1 Green tea, 1+L of water (not enough!!!)
Exercise - 45 mins cardio, average heart rate of 156.
I tried out my polar watch over the last three days and I love it! One of the best presents I've been given for a ages, and I'm using it nearly every day.
I went to see the osteopath today (why I missed M4). I hurt my back gardening on the weekend. I've also got a dippy neck, I sleep weird on my pillow so it gets quite sore. Damien my osteo is great, but mygod he hurts!
Went to the gym to do my cardio tonight, I didn't do what the program asked for... :@
I ended up doing 20 minutes on on the treadmill, 1 incline, 9.5km/hr. Then 15 mins on the elliptical doing a fat-burner workout. Then I did abs. I was very sweaty afterwards, I know I did a great workout.
Anywho, have a great night,
Kelly

Week 1 Day 2

Ok I'm feeling a little guilty already. So far
Meal 1 - Porridge and cottage cheese
Meal 2 - Half low carb protein bar
Meal 3 - This is my mistake... 5 rice biscuits with avocado dip! and my wholemeal salad sandwich with 100g boiled childen breast.

A friend of mine a work made a platter to celebrate my brithday. I couldn't say no, I didn't want to be rude. I'll work extra hard at RPM tonight I promise!!!

Week 1 Day 1

Well... I got over the first hump. All has gone well today. Food good, training good. Back/Shoulders and Chest tonight. 30mins treadmill cardio on 9.5km/h. Feeling a bit drained now. Tomorrow is my birthday and tonight we went and got my birthday presents!!! A F6 Polar watch... pink of course! As well as a 2Gig MP3. I decided not to get an IPod cause I can't download music or videos on my department laptop. The heart rate watch is great, I got up to 180 at one stage on the tredy, but I was mostly around 168. I'll play with the MP3 over the next few days to get it up and running. Did my photos today, eeeck. Won't be showing them for a while.
Anyway just a quick check in, lots to do...
See ya,
Kelly

Procrastinating

Here I am on Sunday, million things to do... Procrastinating!!!

Here is a picture of one unfinished garden bed. I need to put something in it to add privacy our our bedroom behind it.

A finished garden bed with 30 daffodil bulbs, a flowering plant and mondo grass...
Another nearly finished garden bed, all I need to add is mulch.
Our 'rubbish tip' garden bed. We need to go to the tip before we attempt this one, you can see the pile of rubbish at the back of the photo. Believe me... it is much bigger than it looks, being at the bottom of the slope is quite slimming!!!Our unfinished 'backyard'. Starting to do this, I think we'll have to wait until footy season is over to do too much to it. Just putting a tap in next to the shed. You can see the jungle of weeds near the shed.
Here is a picture of the 6 loads of washing I must fold before the day is out, as well as the shopping I must do, the floor I must vacuum and mop before a BBQ tonight as...

My Boyfreind goes out for a ride on his...

wouldn't you love to be male right about now????

Cheers

Kelly

One more day...

Only one more day until I start my challenge. I try to be very organised... but I just can't do it at the moment. I feel like I can't control what is happening around me, so much is happening. I never... I mean never leave the house without making the bed, so I'm not feeling too good about the fact that I didn't make the bed four days this week. As a women and I have a strong belief that we can and often do do many tasks at the same time, (unfortunately men will do one task only at one time), therefore I when I leave the house cleaning to Kane, well you can imagine the result, not much done!!!

When I start my 12 week challenge I know and have discussed with Kane the fact that he is going to have to do a lot around the house to help. And in the past week he really has been helping with cooking and the dishes, but its all those little things that I innately think of such as, 'I wonder if the washing basket's full?' or 'will we have the right things for dinner tomorrow, do I need to go to the shops' or 'we're having chicken for tea, I'll get that out to defrost before work', my BF just does not function like that.
...I know... I need to get over this, but being almost obsessive compulsive about all this makes it hard to let go I suppose, even writing about this makes me jittery. So this will be a big hurdle for me.

The last couple of days have been on hyper-speed. I got my program Thursday??? I think! (See I can't even remember!) I have been to the gym this morning to get my measurements done. Question... Should I trust the Bodyfat scales at the gym? There is 3% difference between my scales home and the scales at the gym (taken the same day, 1/2 hour difference maybe, I didn't eat or drink). I asked for a gym program card to write Sue's program on as it has a section for sets/reps as well. I purchased a training diary, but I didn't like the way you had to write in the same things in each day. The program card seems easier for me.

Today I spent the day in the garden I feel 'dead', it's a huge workout for your body, all those squats, pulling plants out, raking, digging, planting, watering, cleaning. My eyes are tired, my back is sore from bending over, etc. So I am in my PJ's ready for bed... it's only 7.30 on a Saturday night!!! (Feeling my age)

My birthday is on Tuesday and I also need to go shopping with Kane to find a present. I am thinking about an Ipod to use when training and maybe a polar watch with a heart monitor, maybe I'll ask Mum to get me some perfume too.

Also Kane a I are planning to to overseas next year to teach. There is a fantastic group called Search-Associates which help to place teachers in International Schools across the world, so I found out on Wednesday that there is a seminar in Melbourne next Friday all about teaching overseas, etc. So I've had to write an internet application, an application to attend the seminar and pay $180 to attend as well, (Gee that sound repetitive) now with everything else going on this is all too much to wrap my head around as well, try my best though.

So next week I will start my challenge on Monday, have my birthday on Tuesday, go to Melbourne Friday at 12.30, drive 3+ hours to Melbourne, have an interview with Search-Associates 4.15, attend a seminar at 6pm until 9pm, drive home and play netball at Mitta Mitta (90+ km away from Wodonga), then attend a Mitta Football Club social function called Mitta Idol, apparently I am in an act or two, but I have no idea what I'm doing! Kane is going to sing a Frank Sinatra song! All while doing my first week of a 12 week challenge, it will be a challenge!!
Cheers guys,
Kelly

Feeling much better today

Kane and I on the biscuit while we camped at the Murrimbidge River in Leeton in January.
Hello everyone and thank-you so much for your support. I really am feeling much better about everything. I have been spending a lot of time playing with my blog to try to make it look individual etc by adding, moving, removing and so on. So if you think it looks different each time you look, it probably is!!! I've been trying to add a ticker that counts down the weeks and days, but at the moment have only been able to make one that counts down months and weeks. Anyway, I'll get there soon.

I was hoping to start my 12 week challenge very soon, maybe this weekend, but I am still waiting for my individual program. Not worried at all by this!!!! I'm actually really happy with what I'm doing at the moment. I am seeing results after only 2 1/2 weeks of training with weights. I can see shape in my arms, and can feel a little round lump developing upper arm muscle (don't know it's name yet), even Kane can see a change. I can feel my stomach getting smaller when I lay flat on my bed and my clothes are also becoming looser. I've lost about 1.5kg, though my weight fluctuates with the amount of water, weight of food etc I eat and drink. I am trying for 3L a day however usually I get about 2 1/2 L water each day.

At the moment I'm doing...
Monday --Weights, abs
Tuesday -- Spinning class
Wednesday -- Weights, abs
Thursday -- Netball training
Friday -- Weights, abs
Saturday -- Netball game (although this week I have a bye, yayyyyy!!!! I'm doing gardening in my jungle instead!!)
Sunday -- Rest day (Gardening this weekend though)

I've made up a timetable... 7 days a week with 5 meals a day and a space for weight training and cardio. I'm sticking this on the fridge and use this to plan out my day. I find it really easy to get food ready for work, get meat out for defrosting and for grocery planning.

Hope this finds everyone well, hope the rest of your week goes quickly :))) Bring on the weekend,
Kelly

Not a good weekend I'm afraid!!!

I'm in for a big winge... Sorry :(

Played netball yesterday... pause...pause...pause... (deep breaths, I'm so angry)

I'm sorry if anyone is an umpire out there... pause...pause...

We played a reallllly rough team, and I know in the past couple of weeks I've winged about roughness, but this team is not just rough, they are dangerous. We played them in the finals last year and there were punches!!! I-kid-you-not, today this one particular lady (GD) tried to take your legs out from under you, she has a gutter mouth, swore constantly...pause...pause

We had their umpire in the first quarter, within the first 3 minutes I was given a warning for pulling a ball in strongly as this bi&ch tried to smash it from my hands, I spun around to aim at goal and the GD was in my space, she got pulled for contact and then... pause...pause...
I got a warning!!! Can you believe it for being to rough and swinging around too fast. Anyhow, next quarter the other umpire saw how rough the GD was being to us and pulled her for everything, she started swearing and carrying on. She was given 7 warnings for rough play and swearing at players and the umpire, and then the WD 2 for swearing and from then on, it was umpire against umpire. We ended up losing by 7 goals, but I am so frustrated... It was piss$%ing down with rain... 9 degrees in Rutherglen. So my day hadn't started so good!! Then....

After drying off I went to the canteen to get a pie (Rutherglen Bakery is famous for award winning pies is my excuse) I ate it standing under the verander on account of the rain next to three Rutherglen supporters. They were carrying on... swearing at the umpire, our players etc because they were losing by 11 points and we had flooded their back line. They lost in the end so I whistled to congratulate my team. The look I got from these blokes was murder...
So...
I said "Do you have a problem?"
One bloke said "Stop being a smart ass!"
I said "I had to put up with your shit for the last 10 minutes, I think I can congratulate my team"
Then to my amazement this one short, fat, 40ish bloke said to me...
"You've probably slept with the whole fuc#*ng team anyway!!!" And then he walked away.
His two mates were still standing there, I said,
"Did you just hear that?" I was starting to shake,
They said "No" and walked away as well.
I just stood there for 5 minutes, shocked, I was shaking, I have never had anyone speak to me like that. Obviously he took his frustration out on me because his team lost, but his mates condoned his actions by not saying anything.

I went inside to the clubrooms and told a few people from my club what had happened and they were quite supportive, but I was still pretty angry. I asked our President if I could speak to the Rutherglen President. When I did he was very apologetic, but for some reason I got quite emotional and started crying.. (I felt like a dic*head) He made the short, fat, 40ish, drunk man come and apologize, he had no idea what he had said to me, but if did say what I heard his comment was,
"If I said that and you are that upset about it, you must have low self esteem!!!!"
...Like it was my fault. My friends told him to piss off, if that was his apology.
After that one of his mates who was standing next to me when it originally happened came up and apologized profusely saying,
"He does this every week" (Meaning inappropriate comments),
All I could say was
"You accept and condone his actions but not speaking up." It's like bullying, it just as bad to stand back and let it happen. Anyway apparently a lot of the Rutherglen supporters also said something to him as well, because they thought it was hugely inappropriate.
My BF was seething, he wouldn't speak to anyone... He was so angry.

So last night I didn't sleep so well. I'm so glad Sue did well in her competition, she sounds like she had a fabulous time and all that yummy food last night would've been so well deserved.

I'm sorry this was a big winge, hopefully now I've written it down, I can move on and stop stewing on the whole situation.

Have a great week everyone.
Kelly

Half way through the week

This is our nephew Cooper riding a
motorbike at the Bowling Alley in May.

Been a busy week so far. Been eating well, or as well as I seem to get. I am really good with breakfast and I'm really organised before school with meals so everything's ready, I just can't stand that tuna taste after eating it so I snack on a lolly just to get rid of the flavor. I know... I should eat a piece of chewy or something!!! I stopped at three small red skins (the chewy drop ones :)) pieces so at least that's something, I don't gorge!! Lol. I had trouble eating my salad sandwich yesterday so I only ate half... Wasn't hungry or anything so today I ate the other half. I'm going out for tea tonight, not sure where I'm going but my BF will keep me controlled. Had planned to have small serve of spag bol anyway so pasta won't be so bad.

Training's been good, Gym on Monday, Spinning class last night, rest today and netball training tomorrow night. I'm supposed to leave 3 days between each weights session but because of netball training I might go Friday. Next week I start going every second day, ie, Mon, Wed, Fri.

Thats about it. I have a 4th year CSU student in my class at work at the moment so I'm doing lots of different jobs, it's good to have a change.

Feeling the week...

Hello everyone it's been a couple of days and I have been flat out. Had netball training on Thursday night ran a few laps, but it was mostly court practice which is good because we need to work 'better' as a team and that means playing together and court time. On Friday I went to the gym to get a run down of all the equipment Sue wants me to use for the interim program. I went through one set of each exercise... was shaking with the tricep extension move. I was glad I didn't do too much more at the gym because I am sore!!! Very sore! I woke up this morning and my chest and shoulders were still shaking when tensed thus making running today at netball quite tender, each step and my boobs wobbled!! ;)

We won netball by 25 goals.. not sure of the result something like 47-23. They were very rough again, every week I think the other teams are extremely tough, I'm sure we're not as rough as most of the other teams. I can't stand being pushed around but I'll hold my ground if need be.

My food's been good the last few days, I love porridge, I have a really simple recipe:
1/2 cup oats
1/2 cup water
1 scoop vanilla protein powder
so yummy :)

Trying to get used to eating protein etc at meal 2, meal 3 and meal 4. If anyone could give me some hints on how to be creative etc with these three meal I'd really appreciate it. Meal 5 is quite easy, we usually eat pretty well anyway.

Off to do the dishes and put some washing in the dryer and clothes line, it's so cold here, I don't think the washing will dry if I put it out tomorrow.

I got it!!!

Today I got my interim training and nutrition program. It all sounds so exciting. I had a quick look through it and it all sounds achievable, so that it very warming though I am sure it will get tougher as time goes on... I'm only a beginner!!! I will have to do a certain amount of cardio and a certain amount of weight training per week. My only question would be could I swap it for the cardio I am already doing?? The program says 1x35min cardio on a machine at the gym and 3x30-45min cardio outside. Could I use my netball training, spinning class, netball game and 25 minute run instead? I might email and ask just to get started. I think I'm right with the weight training part, I'll just ask questions at the gym, I might even book in to run through some exercises with a trainer just in case. I am going to go on Friday to start with the weights and then go on Monday next week. So my weeks at the moment will start on a Wednesday and finish on a Tuesday... Does that make sense???

Now for the nutrition... I think I can do this part easy. My BF is pretty keen to do the food side with me so that should make it easier. I will just give him more which is the case at the moment anyway. I'm lucky that he used to eat generally as per the meal plan when he was younger so he will be able to 'help' a lot. I'm glad a saw the flavoured rice cakes on the list as I love these. Has anyone tried the sour cream and chives with avocado???? Very yum.... Oh I'm so excited.

Last night was my first spinning class. Doesn't it burn??? I loved it! We rode up hill, had sprint races and sweated big time :) My bum feels bruised from the seat but that should lessen the more I do it. I'll definitely be back next Tuesday for more.

Thanks for your lovely comments Hilary and Selina, I'm sure I will get result and achieve the body I've always wanted. 12 weeks.... I could nearly be finished by next school holidays, that would be something. Writing here and reading others stories are so uplifting and motivational I really feel like I can do it.

Tata for now

Winning by 59 goals feels so good...

Bring back the 24 degrees at Noosa please!!!

Score: Tallangatta Valley 21 lost to Mitta United 80.
I played netball yesterday and I am a bit sore to be truthful. On Thursday night we did a little bit of body attack at netball training, I was getting a little sore in the calves and shoulders before the game yesterday. So I could feel the the soreness coming over me after about 1/2 hour of cooling down. My calves, my hips, my ribs, shoulders, back... all sore.

I suppose I've had two weeks off from netball, limited training, add on always playing GS and playing a whole game in GA yesterday, on a slippery wet court in 12 degrees and drizzle... should I be surprised?????

Anywho today will be a spa at the gym, cooking some savory muffins for snacks this week, video on the couch, a little cleaning (reiterate 'little') a very lazy day... today is a dark, cold drizzly day on North East Victoria.

I've had my whinge!
Have a great weekend,
Kelly
